Our Story
"There's no best matcha.
Only your BEST"
I didn't come up with that. My customers did.
Hi, I'm Hana, owner of lisata matcha store - and a counter I stood behind. I opened it because I grew up loving tea but it was my customers who taught me the thing lisata is really built on.
Everyone wanted something different
Students came in tired, needing a bright green cup to get through study days, good caffeine, calm focus, no afternoon crash. A café latte every day wasn't realistic on their budget, so they made matcha at home instead. For them, Camellia or Asahi matcha was perfect in the morning and Kyoto Hojicha for mid-day - affordable and easy.
Office workers wanted something healthy that kept them sharp till evening - usually Camellia, Hakura or Matcha to-go in a stick, in a small size they could keep at their desk and whisk into a quick latte, or even stir into their morning cereal.
Cafés came to me too. Their baristas wanted matcha with real character, floral, nutty, creamy - but at a cost that still made sense for the menu. Good matcha lets them build standout drinks with confidence: that beautiful green colour, genuinely healthy, and a healthy margin to match. For them, Hakura did exactly that.
Parents were thinking about the whole family, weekend baking, smoothies for the kids, a morning latte with oat milk. Asahi for baking and bold flavour, ceremonial for that slow morning cup. And the gift-giver wanted something beautiful - a ceremonial tin with Japanese artwork Hikari, Cermonial matcha or Niju matcha, something special for a daughter or grandchild who'd fallen for matcha online trend.
None of them were wrong
Standing at that counter, it finally clicked. The students, the office workers, the parents, the baristas, the gift-givers, not one of them was wrong about what good matcha is. They just each needed a different one.
There's no best matcha. only the one that's best for you.
That's the whole reason lisata exists.
So here's what we made five grades - and not one of them is the "top" one. Each is simply the best at what it does. Our job isn't to sell you the priciest bag, it's to help you find yours, and to keep it affordable enough to enjoy every day. We buy straight from family farms in Japan and skip the middlemen, so your money goes into the matcha, not the markup. We're still small. Our team still tasted every batch and checked every message, same as I used to, across the counter.
So tell me how you like your matcha, and I'll help you find yours.

Where We Are Now
Lisata's still small. We still taste every batch and the promise I started with hasn't changed: I'm not here to tell you what's best - I'm here to help you find what's best for you.
Thanks for being here. I'm really glad you came.

About the Price
I'll be honest about something a lot of brands won't say out loud: good matcha has been priced like a luxury for far too long. I didn't want Lisata to feel like a treat you save for special occasions. Matcha is a daily ritual - it should be priced like one. That's why every grade comes in a generous 100g size, which works out to roughly a dollar a cup.We buy straight from family farms in Japan and skip the middlemen, so your money goes into the matcha itself - not the markup.Real quality, at a price you can actually live with - every day.
